ahh it's time to blog about everything. a post to sum up the holidays before it officially ends today.
the holidays started off with pw. and omg pw was really like shit. come to think about it, being the group leader was useful cos you really know what's happening, not simply about your project's content but what's happening within your group.
and it's so true when rah said,
'people's true character start showing when there's stress like pw.
if they have this facade of being responsible, the stress will break it down
then people who normally blend in the background who have truly respectable personalities will start emerging'
heh. it was so true for me. my temperamental nature kinda showed up during pw. all those outbursts and everything. though im still glad that i didnt break down and neglect my responsibilities, but it was bad enough.
a fitting reminder of how bad i control my rage. omg.
and hopefully that's the end of it. when pw results are released, perhaps all those suppressed resentment, irritation and feelings of unfairness will manifest itself again. im wondering why i suddenly thought about that but ya, i really really hope that those who've been dutifully completing their work and doing their utmost for pw earn what they deserved. and for all the work they've done, i think one of the things that will really provide satisfaction is the fact that other people recognize and are grateful to them for the work they've done :)
which brings me to the next thing i was thinking about.
its really really nice to have people recognize you for all that you've done. it's not just pertaining to pw, but to something that had just happened more recently: dance camp.
it's not a big deal but there's always gratitude that you cant really bring yourself to express to these people in person:
jiehan: he's really been a very responsible person who was there to support me whenever i needed advice or to share my thoughts and feelings about different things for the period of planning leading up to dance camp. he helped to lighten my workload like crazy by initiating lots of efforts to get the games right, especially when i heard someone (i think jinfaye or vern) complaining about how meng jiehan was in trying to get them to submit their game proposals.
reminding me to send the smses to inform the comm of stuffs which i always seem to forget about. and helping me to forward them too to save my smses :D
and more importantly he's the person who's like always there (cos he's too free lah HAHA) throughout the entire duration of the planning. you'll see him for every meeting which is quite comforting because you know that he's always reliable (:
vern: the stupid ass (like thew) who's always niaoing me in some way or another. highly entertaining lah both of them.
but amazing he can be seriously when he gets down to work and the trials. which is really unexpected cos i rarely see him when he's serious =P
though he's still guilty for being away in tasmania during dec while dance camp planning was still ongoing, (paiseh i thought you went to play but actly you went to study omg), he was another person who could be counted on to do stuff, even though he was really stressed out over his college app when dance camp was only away in a few days time. despite all that he was still concerned over his responsibilities as part of the games comm which is really admirable.
jinfaye: she's supposedly this really scary person but in actual fact is much nicer than alot of people think. initially i was afraid of her too cos of her general dao face and um
tilted head but in actual fact she's this person whom you can easily bully (just like jiehan who always kena niao).
together with xx she's one of the bboy talents HAHA. i rmb how she was groomed by jiehan to do salsa step which she does really nicely. and i really :O-ed when she did shoulder freeze. apparently modern girls are really damn fit esp when she was laughing at us doing the modern pt -.-"
anw she's another reliable one whom i see the most frequently just like jiehan. if my memory isnt wrong i see them the most often for dance camp preps, either preparing the logistics or discussing the games cos i rmb this day when i stayed back aft meeting with them to prepare the cards and try the physical training tasks.
pinghui: the crazy one! who always has all the crazy ideas and came up with quite a number of ideas for the games. the way she sort of zihighs amuses everyone lah and she's always active in executing the games during the trial dates that we've set.
though she has to balance her commitments as part of the games comm and being inside floorball, she managed to keep herself updated and continue to do the best she can to organize the games and stuff. and she came online for our camp comm meeting! (which is really rare HAHA considering that i only saw her online like 6 times last year)
weisheng: AH the poor guy whom i forgot to acknowledge during camp introduction (sorry weisheng!) i think he had one of the most jobs to do for the camp planning cos he was in games comm, pub comm (which put him in charge of printing programme booklets :D) and the freestyle ic for our freestyle session. which makes him a VIP! (yea very important person)
and to top it off he still had to settle the instructor lesson with felix, fulfill his role as bboy div head and plan for the pre dance camp orientation games together with thew and xx.
he really made my job alot easier by planning carefully for the freestyle session (e.g. collating songs and making the remix, planning out the timing and even came out with a detailed point system which was scraped in the end).
and he's one of the few who's always there to help out during the meetings too (:
games comm: thanks for being the ones who've carefully drawn out all those interesting games which the rest really loved and enjoyed. and not forgetting that you all had to make the sacrifice not to participate in the games during the camp because you all had to organize and execute it.
kelvin & girvan: both of them are like the two who's always there to provide advice and guidance on like managing the comm and ensuring the progress of the planning. and as really experienced people who've planned for lots of different games and camps they're really good at game execution (evident from campfire games :D) and for reviewing the games too.
and they were the ones who made me realize the value of dancecamp and how it was really important to bring the our batch closer together because before that it really felt like we were 3 separate divisions.
junning: the missing person who wasnt there for almost all the meetings and trials cos of work D: even though you were missing most of the time at least you were apologetic and you showed me that you were still concerned about the progress of the planning for dance camp (:
oh and try not to scream again even if someone dumb like jiehan asks you to because it really hurts HAHA
qianrui: MONEY WOMAN! thanks for being the responsible person who'll refund us for our expenditure! :D really efficient leh i managed to get my money back for the prizes in like one week after the camp itself.
and for liaising with studio wu and doing your best to settle michael's lessons before you flew off for ob korea, worrying about the camp budget which eventually overshot like crazy HAHA and trying to cut costs which i know was the right thing you did because if we overshoot the budget even more the rest would have to pay more. and of cos i dont wna pay more :D
progs comm: i think you all are the least recognized comm (besides the pub comm lah HAHA) because you all were doing all the 'behind the scenes' work, which comprised mostly the liaison with the instructors which was really messy and taxing because of the slow replies given by the various external vendors. thanks for getting all those instructors which provided all those interesting lessons which gave us quite a lot of exposure (:
matthew: THE ASS! who came back from bali like a potential skin cancer patient with a totally red face which made you resemble a char shao bao.
there's no doubt about how much work you all had to do lah settling the logistics and stuff. though we still had to get certain things last minute i know you did your best as the logs head alr :D
but more importantly you've been a person i could confide in while we were planning for dancecamp. and for being in that video of "epic fail dance camp game trial" with me :D
both our reputations more or less gone le HAHA
deyi: though i didnt see you much for the initial period of planning for dance camp, during the later part of the planning you proved to be a reliable person too, for participating in the trials together with us and offering valuable opinions about how to go about doing things.
omg and the thing that impressed me the most was you solving jinfaye's word games. you were so zai to the extent that jinfaye wanted you to shutup HAHA. 不愧是 hp de =P
trixie: AH it was only during dance camp planning that i could finally differentiate you and theresa. took me that long but yea at least i managed to accomplish it :D
you've been the really nice and reliable person together with liuyi who tanked the logs work while thew and deyi were gone. and ill remember the time when we played 'chop chilli chop' and you came up with your creative move of O.O (where the two lines are fingers) which made everyone laugh :D
oh and before i forget, thanks for the really nice and cute programme booklet design! it makes me kind of proud of the camp too :D
liuyi: i rmb the first few times i talked to you i was still quite intimidated. by the fact that you had a really guy aura around you and that you were extremely violent :O
of course i saw your more friendly side by the time camp comm was formed and we had our first meeting but apparently the violent side didnt really vanish yup. but the main point is, thanks for being a reliable logs comm member just like the rest of your comm! and for drawing the cute snakes and monkeys on the board. and you can tell quite clearly your style of drawing from the snake and monkey haha its adorable lo :D
logs comm: thanks for being a really reliable comm as a whole. i rmb i was really impressed when we had our tbg prep because most of the logs that we required were there nicely which allowed us to prepare everything quickly in the morning before trialing in the afternoon. and for doing the saikang (like all logs comms do) while being unable to enjoy the camp fully as well because you all had to run around to prepare the logs before games started.
our emXIs xixian and xining!: EPIC LAME SCRIPT. wtf i cannot stand it omg i think it was an unintentional arrangement for xixian and xining to be inside campfire but it turned out to be such a coincidence that it was really amusing :D
both of you all have been wonderful emcees who've really done alot for campfire. xx for being a damn cool comm member! who taught us modern and picked up hh and bboy for the campfire 'battle'. omg the bboy pose was really damn sehh and you can feel the difference in the aura you gave before you picked up bboy and during the campfire itself. ohyea and you're really much different when you taught modern cross div. much stricter and fierce which belies your short look =P
xn for being a damn ass but amusing comm member :D forever niaoing xx, vern and jh which warrants you irritated but entertaining reactions from the 3 of them HAHA. and i bet more than half of the lame ideas that you all had for your campfire script came from you lah i dont believe xx is that lame lor. it's really lame 到极度 but damn hilarious. the enthusiasm that you all had for planning for campfire was really motivating too, though you always kped about the low budget for campfire to qr but in the end you all managed to work well with that budget (:
yiran: you're another one who was missing from comm meetings quite frequently too cos of your parents D: but you made the effort to keep yourself updated about the planning progress and offer help when you could, which i think was nice enough alr :)
being the comm with least people (3) i think you all have really done alot to plan for that 3 hours of activity which included planning games (omg the epic fashion show which i didnt think would turn out that interesting and hilarious), deco (pigs and axe!), montage screening and the overall programme.
zhicong our montage ic: who faced lots of unexpected problems preparing for the campfire montage but managed to come up with an alternative plan so that the montage could be screened. though it wasnt really much of a montage without the special effects and sufficient photos, it was good enough to let everyone revisit what the activities they had during the camp were and inspire the nostalgia in everyone.
i was very impressed at your dedication to the montage lah esp cos you tried to chiong the montage early on 3rd day morning before coming for camp to ensure that you could clear part of the montage to make sure that we would be on task for screening the montage at night (:
i think it was really stressful on you guys during the prep for the campfire and montage in zc's case, especially because you all had to balance between showcase prep and campfire prep, made worse by the fact that the av equipment had failed to work. thanks so much for all that hardwork :D
last but not least, hilary: though you werent there for a few weeks during the planning of the dance camp and even the camp itself, i know that you're truly disappointed that you missed dance camp and didnt manage to contribute more than what you already had before you left for your overseas trip.
the effort that you've made to kickstart the planning process and to settle the objectives, outline and the idea of the camp set us off well for the preparations for the camp. and that was a really important thing that you've done for the planning for dance camp (:
camp comm in general:
thanks for all those fun times that we really had together (:
even though some of us may not have managed to experience the camp fully because we were involved as the organizing committee, i think that the enjoyable experiences that we've had together trialing the games, talking cock together and dancing aft our meetings are invaluable memories that have brought us closer together.
and for everyone else:
thanks for all that appreciation and for being so supportive participants. you've all contributed to the camp in your own way by being enthusiastic and cooperative people (most of the time though :D) which had helped to make the entire journey of planning and executing the camp fulfilling and happy.
ill post photos next.
