you know, reading wenshan's blog inspired me to think alot about why i wanted to join the fac com.

when i first got into hiphop i was abit stumped. really. because my dance standards were really sucky then (not saying that im far better now, but im improving :))

then it was like quite :O ish for me. i took a look at the list of people who went through the auditions like me and managed to get in -
and then i was like, who on earth are they lah

HAHA now presenting to you:

whole bunch of hoppers! celebrating bernice's birthday at salt centre during our salt rehearsal for dancenight :D

anyway back to the old story!
so zhanhao was like "ares fac dance ic liao :D thought of what moves to put in already anot?"
(and then alot of funny stuffs which we talked about putting inside the dance. e.g throw water bombs or sth i think ^^)

that was probably the first time i thought of being the dance ic. but then at that time alr too happy getting into hiphop le lah. its like i finally have a chance to learn dance properly and enjoy it :D

-jump to like one week ago-

Submission of fac com application forms

when mabel asked me wht to put for the reason why we wna join the fac com as dance ic, i was kind of caught by surprise. it occured to me that i rly didnt know why i wna be dance ic.

but at least when i filled in that form and thought about it until now, im clear of why i wna be the dance ic.

and im glad that hao jie is running for dance ic too. because the fact that both of us are gna compete for that post it means that both of us are motivated to do better, to improve to fulfil the criteria that we've set for ourselves to become the dance ic.

and no matter who gets the post, we'll both have learnt in the process. even if its a simple short 4X8 choreography (out of which i've only done half an 8, which is equal to 4)
and revising what we've learnt for the past 2 months and trying to integrate them into a proper sequence of moves :)

the ares fac dance is not just simply a rite of passage for all the new j1 students who'll learn it as they go through orientation. its also not only 1 out of the 7 dances they will learn (5 mass dances, 1 batch dance).
but its is an affirmation of their identity as members of our high spirited faculty (i wouldnt dare say hot cos we arent actually very hot =P)
and its part of something we know as our ares faculty culture :)

and thats why i wna choreograph this dance that will not only belong to the j1 batch like how the '09 ares fac dance belongs to us, but a dance that will get aresians high and start dancing when they hear the music play :D

and if i dont get in, i know haojie's gna do his best as the dance ic as well :)
